The Centre of Disability Law and Policy has previously hosted three Summer Schools, beginning in 2005 and the most recent being held in 2011.
The 2011 Summer School focused on introducing participants to the nature of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, to treaty interpretation in general and to the general concept of equality in the convention. The Summer School also examined important provisions in the convention protecting people with disabilities against violence, exploitation and abuse.
This year the Summer School will equip participants with the insights and skills necessary to translate the generalities of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities into tangible reform for persons with disabilities.
