G3ict Work Session & Breakfast: “Georgia: A Global Hub for Digital Accessibility Innovation”

Goal of this Meeting 

The goal of this gathering was to facilitate collaboration among Georgia public and private sector organizations involved in accessibility of Information & Communication Technology (ICT) and explore the potential of Georgia as a global hub and expertise center for Digital Accessibility innovation.  To support this goal, we plan to:

1. Review and document Georgia's strengths and interests related to ICT Accessibility
2. Review global opportunities for Digital Accessibility innovations in light of the new dispositions of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities adopted by over 135 countries since March 30th 2007
3. Discuss initiatives and collaboration opportunities in six thematic areas: Culture & Human Rights, Education, Employment, Healthcare & Rehabilitation, Technology, Tourism & Transportation
4. Propose possible follow-up steps to foster a continuous dialogue, new projects and collaborations among Georgia based organizations

 Expected Outcome 

1. Initial documentation of Georgia's strengths and interests related to ICT Accessibility, mapped to accessibility innovation themes
2. Inventory of initiatives and organizations mapped to each theme
3. Ideas from participants about other information that would be helpful (e.g. toolkits, best practices, etc.)
4. Ideas for how to continue the discussion and collaboration using communication / online tools, periodic meetings, working groups, systematic survey of Georgia’s assets
